Hola! voy a explicar mi experencía cuando fui a Alcoy. (Ok, I think its better in english because I know that my Spanish still not fluent yet.jajjaja)
May 3rd - 5th is the day of Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos (Festival of Mosleem and Christiani) in Alcoy, a small city in Valencia province (+/- 2 hours by train from Valencia). This festival is celebrate in (most of) every city in Comunidad Valenciana but in Alcoy (some said) is the biggest one. It held for remembering the historical about various Mosleem uprising taking place in the region led to San Jorge, the patron of Alcoy, who is attributed with the intervention in a battle to defend the new population who were under attack by the Mosleems.
Each day of festival has different program and it called Festival Trilogy. First day is the day of parades, the Cristian parade in the morning and the Mosleem parade in the afternoon. The second day celebrates the festival's patron, San Jorge and the last day is called Alardo, which recreates the epic gun battle that took place in the street of the city.
I just came to the Mosleem parade and I was a little bit surprised because I really feel like in that era and with the sound of some instrumental, which is I called, such as rebana, kecrekan, gendang, and their costume also make me thinked that they are Mosleem (but in fact, I don't know). Yup, I can called it as atmosphere of Arabic, hehe. I watched some dancers, warriors from different "fila" (this how the called community in Alcoy and surroundings, like "falla" in Valencia), some animals (horse, camel, and some kinds of birds) and also a bunch, its like rain, of confetti and streamers thrown from the balcony or from the kids in the parade.

This festival is so interesting, but there are some (for me) inconvenient, such as there are not many public free spaces to see the parade because along the parade way, it already full of chairs which is I must pay to sit and see the parade (although in fact this festival is free). So, its a little bit difficult to find a free area with good view. Then, the location of Alcoy is also a little bit isolated because it is surrounded by mountain and I just know that there is a train from Valencia (renfe media distancia) but doesn´t have many optional train so you must aware of the train schedule. But the interesting thing for me is although I saw a Mosleem parade, but as long as I saw, only me and another 3 women who wear hijab.hehehe
Hope that next year this festival gonna be more glorious :)
